Strong and weak bounds for selected pieces
Bounds selected pieces strongly and weakly in
selected-piece input to the reassembly
Claim·§B.3 Summation over the spatial and angular frequencies·inside thmSharp logarithm with angular regularity
Statement (paper)
For the selected pieces, the strong square function over of the selected parts of is bounded in by , and the corresponding selected part of satisfies the weak bound . In the region the selected pieces satisfy a strong bound of .
In plain English
For the selected pieces, the square function over of the selected parts of is bounded in by . The corresponding selected part of obeys the weak bound with constant . In the region the selected pieces satisfy a strong bound .
Why it's here
This gives the estimates for the part of the decomposition where the angular cutoff is selected, using the angular polynomial bound (Proposition B.2) and the envelope domination by the maximal function (previous claim) to sum over without dependence on the cutoff . These strong and weak bounds are the inputs that the later reassembly step combines, via the synthesis operator and interpolation, into the theorem's estimates.
Classified routine:
A bookkeeping step inside the proof of the angular-regularity theorem: it combines the angular polynomial local smoothing bound (Proposition B.2) with the envelope/maximal-function domination from the previous claim. The square-function and weak-type bounds then follow from standard maximal function arguments, such as the Fefferman–Stein vector-valued maximal inequality.
